Guard Audition Instructions:

Greetings! Thanks for checking out the audition material for guard.

​

Color guard is part of the marching band, and rehearses daily during 4th period. You'll need to have band in your schedule if you are accepted into the guard. In addition to the 4th period band rehearsals, the guard rehearses two nights a week outside of the school day, usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-8:00 pm. Those sectionals are mandatory.

The guard is coached by Terri Packard. Her coaching is excellent, and the guard consistently achieves top scores from the guard judges at the state marching band festival.

Guard Audition Guidelines: 

Be able to flag along with the audition music (below). We will run it twice in the first round, and if necessary, we will do recalls. Auditions will be posted on the band website on Tuesday, May 26, after auditions have been tabulated.

Counts for auditions:

1-2 Left Slam

3-4 Right Shoulder

5-6 Right Slam

7-8 Right Shoulder

1-8 Drop Spins (odds down, evens up)

1-8 Hold

1-8 Stirs

1-4 Fake Toss

5-8 Zig Zag

1-8 Hold

1-8 Tarzan

1-8 Reverse Tarzan
